Truck Show for all the family taking place in Longton

OWNERS of a Stoke-on-Trent truck park are set to host their own family-fun community event.

The ‘ADS Truck Show’ will take place in Longton on Saturday 30 November, and will also be a celebration event to mark a year of developments at the Willow Row site.

In April this year government officials from the Department for Transport, along with a local MP and other businesses, attended a special open day at ADS Truck Parking, which saw the unveiling of brand new driver welfare facilities at the site following a £225,000 grant received in 2023.

Fast forward to September, and the truck stop were finalists in the High Street Impact category of the Staffordshire University Business Awards, for their support to other businesses located in their local town.

Now, owners Andrew Sargent and Berni Buxton are planning an exciting truck show, which members of the public will be able to attend for free.

“It has been a bit of a rollercoaster of a year,” says Andrew.

“We always aim to provide quality facilities to drivers and to be able to open our new driver welfare facilities earlier this year was great – driver welfare is of utmost importance and we will always do what we can to provide home from home comforts.

“Then to be finalists in our very first business awards was incredible – we couldn’t believe it.
“Now as we start to look towards the end of 2024, we want to welcome our local communities along – as well as other businesses – to enjoy our truck show – which will be open to everyone. There will be things to do for all of the family and we are very much looking forward to it.”

Andrew and Berni are also no strangers when it comes to competing in truck shows themselves.

During this summer alone they have travelled the length and breadth of the country, clocking up more than 3,000 miles from Scotland to Lincoln, to take part in shows.
Their efforts – showing Berni’s own truck has itself scooped 14 second place positions as well as being highly commended in other categories.

Yard manager, Jay Ball, who assists with truck show preparations said: “We have done really well this year at the truck shows – next year we will be going for first place.

“So much work goes into the preparations to show a truck, but it is all worth it – especially when you come home with a trophy. You can spend at least a couple of days getting a truck ready to show – everything has to be spotless and when we host our truck show this year we will be looking for who shines and stands out the most – it will be a great event for all.”

ADS Truck Show on Saturday 30 November, is set to feature various food stalls and fun activities for all of the family.
