It isn’t easy being sixteen but discovering you are the half blood son of the Greek Poseidon brings about its own problems.
Percy, who is faced with powers he can’t control and a destiny he doesn’t want, must find out what it really means to be a hero
Vasco Emauz stars as Percy Jackson in this magical stage sensation, which is
aimed at children aged eight to adult – and perfect for a first visit to the theatre.
With nonstop action and toe-tapping songs it engages even the most sceptical musical critic.

Originally seen as an alternative to Harry Potter, it is easy to see why this franchise has become so popular. Based on Greek mythology, and unlike the lessons at school, you won’t be snoozing in your seat.
Despite his heritage, Percy is an insecure teen struggling with diagnosis of ADHD and not knowing who his real father is and he finds his tribe at the half blood summer camp where ride and die friendships are forged.
Percy is a hero in more ways than he realises and the musical aspect of the show weaves the story together in a fast paced and lively manner.
With a live band on stage the cast perfrom catchy hits such as ‘The Campfire song’ and ‘Try’.
Plus fight scenes are well choreographed with impressive sword skills.
Emauz possesses on stage presence as Percy and interacts well with co-stars Kayna Montecillo as Annabeth and Cahir O’Neil as Grover – one of the most loveable characters of the whole show.
A notable mention goes to Ellie-Grace Cousins, an ensemble member who stood out as Clarisse and multiple other characters with a powerhouse voice and vibrant energy.
Simone Robinson was impressive as she changed characters at a drop of a hat and the lighting and scenery is West End grade pulling out all the stops to bring every
theatre trick to the stage.
Scenery is a combination of digital media and actor led puppetry.
It is always joyous to see a show that appeals to all ages and with such a large fanbase. Those not familiar with the story will not be disappointed as the musical is well structured and fast paced.
Percy Jackson is everything a good adventure story should be – filled with twists, turns and lifelong friendships.
This is a swashbuckling triumph of a show which is a must see.
