Summer campaign in Stoke-on-Trent

A new campaign has been launched as part of Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s drive to encourage families to visit culture, leisure and nature destinations in the city this summer.

The campaign has been designed to encourage families to visit events at council run museums, leisure centres, libraries and parks and aims to encourage people to have a ‘Stokie Summer’ over the summer holidays as well as highlighting what families can do for FREE across the city.

Over the holidays the city council will be raising awareness of:

  • Culture- museums and their summer event programme
  • Nature- parks and their summer event programme
  • Leisure- leisure centres and their summer event programme
  • Travel- discounted bus fares introduced across Stoke-on-Trent with new Affordable Fares scheme
  • Community- the Holiday Activities and Food programme in partnership with the Hubb Foundation for children aged five to sixteen
  • Reading- libraries and the summer reading challenge

Councillor Jane Ashworth, leader of Stoke-on-Trent City Council, said: “As city we have so much to offer families over the summer holidays. Our museums, libraries, leisure centres and parks are all hosting a variety of free and paid for events and activities.

“We know many families are struggling with the cost of living and the summer holidays are pressure points for many. Not everything has to cost money, you can experience lots of fun, family friendly moments this summer right on your door step. That’s why we are running this social media campaign to show that we have so much heritage and culture here in Stoke-on-Trent, we want families to feel inspired.

“Use the hashtag #StokieSummer and share you summer holiday snaps with us”.
