Staffordshire University named Nurse Education Provider of the Year 2022

Staffordshire-University

Staffordshire University has been named Nurse Education Provider of the Year (Post-registration) at the Student Nursing Times Awards 2022.

During a glittering ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane, the winners of 21 award categories were revealed – celebrating excellence across all specialities of nursing and education over the last 12 months.

Staffordshire University won the Nurse Education Provider of the Year (Post-registration) award in recognition of its MSc Advanced Clinical Practice course which aims to develop the talents of qualified nurses, midwives and other healthcare professionals in a nurturing educational environment.

The program was designed in response to increased demand on healthcare staff and was one of the first provisions to be accredited by Health Education England. Upon successful completion of the MSc students can apply to join the National Directory for Advanced Clinical Practice.

Inspirational students, staff and projects at Staffordshire University were also shortlisted in the Best Student Experience, Most Inspirational Student Nurse of the Year, Student Nurse of the Year: Children and Teaching Innovation of the Year categories.

Mike Phillips, Interim Executive Dean of the School of Health, Science and Wellbeing, said: “We are thrilled to have won this award! At Staffordshire University we are passionate about transforming our healthcare workforce by supporting both future and existing health professionals to develop their skills, knowledge and expertise in order to improve the quality and safety of their patients’ experience.

“Our MSc Advanced Clinical Practice is a great example of how we are putting this into practice. It is delivered by experienced, registered health and social care practitioners who inspire and motivate students through innovative and responsive teaching approaches.”

Mike added: “We are incredibly proud of all our students and staff who were shortlisted – to be recognised on a national stage like this is a huge achievement.”

The awards were judged by healthcare experts from across the country and the ceremony was introduced by Chief Nurse for Health Education England Professor Mark Radford CBE, who recently opened Staffordshire University’s new £5.8 million state-of-the-art Centre for Health Innovation in Stafford.

Steve Ford, editor of Nursing Times, said: “Congratulations to all our winners at the Student Nursing Times Awards 2022. Once again, I was really impressed by the strength of entries that we received this year. Our awards recognise a group of outstanding students on their journey to entering the nursing profession, as well as all those who support them along the way, including lecturers, universities and healthcare providers.

“Meanwhile, the winning higher education institutions and placement providers demonstrate the constant evolution and development in the way the next generation of nurses are educated, equipping them to deal with the challenges they will face and to provide the best care possible.”
