A season of celebration to mark 150th anniversary at Port Vale Football Club

Port Vale Football Club have announced a season of celebration for the 2025/26 campaign, as the club prepares to mark the 150th anniversary of its founding in 1876.

A series of special events, including a dedicated 150th anniversary fixture at Vale Park, plus the club’s first-ever Hall of Fame dinner, will all feature along with various commemorative activities.

Content to reflect the club’s rich history, from becoming founding members of the Football League Second Division, to becoming the only side to defeat all other 91 professional English clubs in competitive league fixtures, will also be shared.

A prime focal point of the anniversary activity will be the club’s growing commitment to supporter engagement and will include special kit and merchandise launches, as well as legacy initiatives each designed to honour stories of the past.

The 2025/26 season will also be a special one for Valiants across the world, offering both long-standing and new supporters a chance to engage in the celebration of 150 years of heritage.

Port Vale Chief Executive, Matt Hancock (pictured), said: “Our 150th anniversary season will be a truly special occasion for everyone connected with the club and we’re excited to be bringing supporters and the wider community a programme of events and initiatives that we believe do justice to the history and proud traditions of Port Vale, with input from the Supporter Advisory Board.

“We strongly believe we have a great story to tell here at Vale, and this milestone will not only allow us to celebrate our past, but also look ahead to an exciting future together with our supporters. Keep an eye out for more details as we get closer to the start of next season.”

To add to the celebrations, local businesses are invited to attend a celebration launch taking place in February at Vale Park, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent.

The launch event will feature guest speakers along with news of exciting opportunities on how to forge partnerships with the club, which will not only support the work on the pitch, but also in the wider community.

Head of Partnerships Laura Jennings said: “We have some really exciting opportunities coming up where businesses can be involved in the Club’s future including a headline 150th anniversary season partner and sponsorship of the Valiants Suite, plus the chance to be part of our brand new hall of fame awards and anniversary game.

“We cannot wait to share more in February. We already have some great relationships with our business partners and we are looking forward to welcoming more local organisations to join us.

“Yes, we are a football club – but we are also a lot more than that – and via our partnership with the Port Vale Foundation we help thousands of local people each season.”
