Safety takes centre stage as First Aid training continues

Over 100 companies have now benefitted following the launch of First Aid training by a Stoke-on-Trent health and safety company, with workshops continuing during Lockdown 2 in a Covid-19 safe environment.

BPA Safety has invested in new equipment in its spacious training room at Quantum House, Stoke. The company added first aid training to its portfolio in 2019 and acquired additional space at Quantum House, on Leek Road. The company also added Mark Jinks, a new safety consultant, who came to the company with years of experience as a First Aid trainer.

Mark said: “We’ve trained over 100 people so far, helping companies to keep their staff safe in North Staffordshire and beyond. Training continues during lockdown as we have put a lot of thought into creating a Covid-19 safe environment. Each session is limited to four delegates and we have enough room to ensure 2-metre social distancing. BPA Safety has also invested in additional first aid mannequins and each delegate has their own to work with during the course. Delegates are supplied with medical wipes and each person has a designated space. We are also involved with track and trace with everyone who comes into the training room asked to check-in via a QR code on the door.”

BPA Safety run both the one-day Emergency First Aid and three day First Aid at work courses. The one-day course includes: Introduction, Role and responsibilities of the first aider, Assessing an incident

Managing an unresponsive casualty, the respiratory system– Wounds and bleeding, Shock, Seizures, Dealing with minor injuries, Other injuries.

While the three-day course ads in extra elements such as – The human skeleton – Fractures and dislocations, Sprains and strains, Chest injuries, Dealing with major illness, Other injuries.
Mark is also qualified to deliver Paediatric First Aid training, designed for people working with children, including teachers, nursery staff.

BPA Safety was founded more than 30-years and provides safety consultancy to companies from household names to small family businesses. During the pandemic, BPA’s experienced team have helped scores of businesses with risk assessments to ensure they are safe places to work, with social distancing and best hygiene practices in place.
