Little Library Van and digital support sessions

The Little Library Van will continue weekly sessions at Smithfield during September and October, alongside digital support sessions in Hanley Market, as preparations continue for the opening of City Central Library at Two Smithfield.

The Little Library Van has proved extremely popular with readers based in and around Hanley during the summer holiday, with over 190 signups for 2023’s Summer Reading Challenge taking place to date, and signups reaching over 1100 children.

Sessions at Smithfield will continue every Wednesday from 9:30am until 12:30pm, with visitors able to sign up to be a library member, collect book bundles plus we will have our ever-popular Singing Bears sessions, from 10:30am. The last Little Library Van session at Smithfield will take continue until the end of October.

The digital support slots will continue in Hanley Market, with drop-in sessions every Monday and Thursday from 9:30am until 12pm. Please note, there will be bookable slots available for Thursdays only. Digital support sessions at Hanley Market will continue until the end of October.

Other digital support sessions are also available on the following dates and locations:

  • Mondays – Longton Library – 2pm – 3:30pm
  • Tuesdays – Stoke Library – 11am – 12:30pm
  • Wednesdays – Tunstall Library – 2pm – 3:30pm
  • Fridays – The Blurton Hub – 9am – 10:30am

Leader of Stoke-on-Trent City Council Cllr Jane Ashworth said: “We are just putting the finishing touches to City Central Library so we have extended the Little Library Van appearances at Smithfield and the digital support sessions at Hanley Market.

“Our dedicated digital support team can help residents with tasks such as applying for bus passes and obtaining blue badges. Many services are moving online, so having these sessions in different libraries and Hanley Market, will allow residents to get IT help when needed.

“We understand everyone is eager to visit the new City Central Library at Two Smithfield, and it will definitely be worth the wait. An opening date for City Central Library will be announced very soon.”
