Neil Morrissey supporting Staffordshire Day

Actor Neil Morrissey has recorded a message of love to the county as Staffordshire Day approaches.

The Stafford-born star, known for his work in The Syndicate, Line of Duty, and Men Behaving
Badly, threw his weight behind the Love Letters to Staffordshire campaign, a new way for
people to show their pride in the county on Saturday 1 May.

His video, available to view at the Enjoy Staffordshire YouTube Channel mentions Spitfire inventor Reginald Mitchell, singer Robbie Williams, Trentham Gardens, Cannock Chase and many more things to be proud of.

Organisers Enjoy Staffordshire, alongside Staffordshire County Council and other local authority partners, are hoping many more will follow in his footsteps to record their own video message.

John Henderson, Chief Executive at Staffordshire County Council said: “Over the last five
years, we’ve seen our Staffordshire Day celebrations quickly grow to become a permanent
fixture in our tourism calendar. It’s a wonderful celebration that allows us to shout about everything that’s great about our county, from our amazing people, rich heritage and culture to our stunning locations and places to visit.
“Our Love letters to Staffordshire campaign is new for this year’s celebrations and is an easy and fun way for people to tell the world why they love Staffordshire. So whether it’s on video, or written in a social media post, make sure you share yours on Saturday May 1st . We already know what a wonderful county Staffordshire really is, so now, help us let everyone else know.”

The Love Letters to Staffordshire is part of an online programme of activity to celebrate Staffordshire, which will also include a virtual market, a film festival, and a series of live and pre-recorded events. Videos can be filmed on a smartphone or video camera, and no longer than 60 seconds. Once recorded, they should be shared on social media on Saturday 1 st May, with the hashtag #StaffordshireDay
