MARCHING BAND to perform in People’s Parade

A 20-STRONG marching band – who pride themselves in spreading positivity through electronic music – are joining hundreds of artists, creatives and community groups for what is set to be the biggest community parade to grace Stoke-on-Trent.

KiLNE, which was founded by local musician Danny Shaw, will form the leading parade section behind the giant puppet ‘The Spirit of Stoke.’

Whilst Danny and his band members are no strangers to participating in parades and community events in and around Stoke-on-Trent and further afield  – the People’s Parade is to be their biggest yet.

The parade will start at College Road, Hanley Park on Saturday 7 June before heading up towards the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery, through the Cultural Quarter and back towards the park.

During the route KiLNE will be performing up to four different tracks.

Danny said: “It’s amazing to be a part of the People’s Parade, we have been involved in other events around Stoke including the very popular Pig Walk with Urban Wilderness, which goes through Longton and recently at LOOPFEST in Shrewsbury, but this is going to be huge.

“There are so many people involved and it’s amazing to be involved. Everyone is working really hard to bring something special to Stoke-on-Trent and we cannot wait.”

Danny adds: “I started KiLNE because I wanted to help to motivate Stoke and bring that positivity to the City as there is so much going on and we have so much talent in the area. The People’s Parade is bringing communities together and creating a positive impact. It is one of those great things to be a part of.”

The People’s Parade is being delivered by Stoke-on-Trent City Council in partnership with Stoke Creates and Arts Council England and forms part of SOT100 – a year of activity to mark the centenary of Stoke-on-Trent being awarded official city status.

Isla Telford, Co-director of arts organisation Urban Wilderness and one of the main organisers of the People’s Parade, said: “The People’s Parade is really exciting and it is great to be able to bring this together with so many incredible artists, creatives and organisations for Stoke-on-Trent in the year we celebrate our City’s Centenary.

“The People’s Parade is something for everyone and it is going to be one huge, colourful and joyous occasion and we want everyone to come and see us on Saturday 7 June – it’s not one to miss!”
