Magical Christmas at Gladstone Pottery Museum

Gladstone Pottery Museum has announced a host of magical Christmas events to help people across the city get into the festive spirit.

Kicking off the festive programme on Sunday 11 December, the Museum will welcome the award-winning Ragged Victorians living history group to perform a re-enactment of the lower classes of Victorian England in the 1850s.

See the rag-n-bone man, fisherman’s wives, match girls, road sweeps, rat catcher, petty thieves, and plenty more.

Standard admission charges apply for the Ragged Victorians event.

On Saturday 17 December, families can come and meet Santa and his elf as part of the Museum is transformed into a mini wonderland with Christmas trees, snow, and Santa’s sleigh.

Families can also take part in festive face painting, throwing a pot, china flower making and slip cast demonstrations plus children can make their own table decoration. Customers will also have the opportunity to make a Christmas wreath between 10 am and 12:30 pm, from an experienced florist tutor, with tickets costing £35.

To round off the day, we will have a carol concert from the Dougie Mac Choir with mince pies and mulled wine being served.

Cllr Lorraine Beardmore, cabinet member for culture, leisure and public health said: “Christmas promises to be extra special with all the family-friendly events we have on offer at Gladstone Pottery Museum. You can see the fantastic Ragged Victorians performance, or you can come and meet Santa, enjoy the Dougie Mac choir, or even make a Christmas wreath. We have something for the whole family to enjoy.”
