Keep Longton Warm – by Longton Exchange Shopping Centre

Longton Exchange Shopping Centre is proud to announce its upcoming initiative to support local families and ‘Keep Longton Warm’ throughout the winter season.

As part of this endeavour, the shopping centre is asking for donations of gently used winter clothing and school uniforms.

During the summer months, Longton Exchange supported the local community by hosting ‘The Little Longton Uniform Exchange’ which supported over 500 families and provided them with free school uniforms before the start of term.

Now, with the cooler weather on its way, the Longton Exchange team are shifting their focus towards helping the community keep warm this winter.

Longton Exchange aims to engage the community by encouraging the donation of preloved winter clothing and school uniforms. All donated items will form the establishment of our pop-up shop.

Donation drop-off points have been established at Kizzy B’s, or the Centre Management Office, making it convenient to contribute to the cause.

Chris Ward, the centre’s manager, said: “A massive thank you to the dedicated volunteers of the Little Longton Book Exchange for offering their time to run the winter pop-up shop.”

Families are invited to visit the shop, which will be open from Monday 30th October – Friday 3rd of November 2023. The shop will be located in the old Shoezone store, where all winter clothing and school uniforms will be available free of charge. However, visitors are asked to consider making a donation to the centre’s Charity of the Year, Stoke Air Ambulance.

To further support those in need, a competition will run in-store, offering £50 vouchers for spending at Steve’s Butchers and an additional £50 for spending at MAW Fruit and Veg. The competition will be simple to enter, with shoppers required to scan the QR code on the poster and leave their contact details to be in with the chance of winning.

Chris Ward, the Centre Manager of Longton Exchange, expressed his enthusiasm for the campaign, saying: “The community is at the heart of everything we do here at Longton Exchange. Being able to provide our shoppers with free clothing for the winter is something I am deeply passionate about.”
