LOCAL ARTISTS TO BE CELEBRATED WITH NEW EVENTS

LOCAL artists are to be celebrated during a series of brand new events, which are being launched by a community arts organisation.

Centre Space Arts (CIC) have collaborated with Smithfield Works, in Hanley for the HD ‘One Night Only’ events, which aim to bring video art and music together.

On Friday 23 May, David Morall will be the first artist to showcase his work during an evening of celebration, which will also include live music from local musicians and refreshments.

After the event some of David’s work will be displayed on open spaces at the co-working hub for around three months.

“We are really excited to be working with Smithfield Works for our first HD ‘One Night Only’ event,” says Darren Director of Centre Space Arts Darren Washington.

“The location is right in the cultural quarter and perfect for our new events where we will be shining a spotlight on the raw talent of local artists in a dynamic new way.”

Community Manager at Smithfield Works, Adele Simmons, said: “It’s good to be working with an organisation like Centre Space Arts, who pride themselves on showcasing local artistic talent via their events.

“It’s also great to be able to display work by local artists in and around our co-working space following each event.”

Centre Space Arts pride themselves on bringing out the authenticity of Stoke-on-Trent via their events and plan to introduce a second artist for the HD series in August.

Darren adds: “Over the coming months we will also be introducing more artists to our HD events which will showcase local creators.

“This is art, unfiltered, unexpected and right at the heart of Staffordshire.”

Tickets are free for the event on Friday 23 May, where music and visuals will also provided by Mundaneconsciousness , Traindeer,  Decadebridge  and Tekkaz.

It takes place between 7pm – 10pm at Clayworks Lower Ground, Smithfield Works, Broad Street, Hanley.

The art edition also includes the launch of Bench notes, which is a new info zine set around the culture of the city by Alex Hough.
