Cybercon Staffordshire to welcome leading industry experts

Leading industry experts – including an investigative journalist – have been announced as speakers for the first ever Cybercon Staffordshire event.

Headline speaker Geoff White, who has covered technology for the BBC and Channel 4 News, has won multiple awards for his work on Snowden leaks – the hacking of Britain’s largest ISP TalkTalk – as well as his exposes of fraud in the Internet dating industry.

At the free event, which is taking place at the Catalyst Building, University of Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, on Wednesday 2 April, Geoff will be talking about a £1.5 billion world heist, as well as all-important cyber lessons organisations need to be aware of.

Ex-Cyber detective and advisor Adam Pilton will discuss – “Cracking the Case of the Insider Threat,” Simon Norsworthy, who is sales engineer at leading global cybersecurity company – Bitdefender – will be discussing 24/7 Security and Monitoring, while other keynote speaker Vimal Raj Sampathkumar, of IT firm, ManageEngine, will present “Fortifying Endpoints in a Threat-Driven World.”

Adam Pilton added: “I am thrilled to be a part of Cybercon Staffordshire, which is a premier event designed for key decision-makers, including CEOs, IT Managers, CTOs, CISOs and other tech professionals – who are all seeking to stay ahead in today’s rapidly evolving cybersecurity landscape.

“The topics which are going to be discussed will all provide valuable insights for any organisation and it really is an event not to be missed.”

Usman Shah Director of Abzorbed IT Solutions, who have organised Cybercon Staffordshire, said: “As cyber threats continue to evolve, the need for robust, proactive security strategies is more critical than ever.

“Therefore we are thrilled to bring together some of the brightest minds in the cybersecurity industry for this event where they will be able to offer real-world insights and practical solutions for businesses across the region.

“Geoff has won multiple awards for his work and will share some amazing insights as well as advice – his words really will speak for themselves.

“Plus Adam, Simon and Vimal will also be providing thought provoking conversations with all four taking part in a panel Q&A at the end of the day.”

Cybercon Staffordshire kicks off at 9AM with a welcome breakfast before Vimal’s talk at 10:15am. Adam’s “Cracking the Case of the Insider Threat is scheduled for 11am before lunch at 12 noon. Simon will then share his knowledge in his “24/7 Security & Monitoring talk at 1pm, with Geoff’s Cyber lessons from the world’s biggest heist at 1:45.

In addition to expert insights, Cybercon Staffordshire will offer a fun twist with a Racing Sim competition. Attendees will have the opportunity to test their skills on the simulator, with the top scorer taking home a special prize.

“While cybersecurity is a serious business, we’re also committed to making the day engaging and enjoyable and the Racing Sim is a fun way to unwind while connecting with other professionals,” says Usman.

Cybercon Staffordshire is free to attend, but places are limited and early registration is encouraged. For more details and to reserve a place visit the Cybercon Staffordshire Eventbrite page: https://cyberconstaffordshire25.eventbrite.co.uk
