HR Essential for Business Owners – in the spotlight at first business centre seminar

karen-coleman

Employment lawyer Karen Coleman will launch a series of seminars and workshops at a Staffordshire Moorlands business centre.

The owners of Daisy Bank House Business Centre, are planning monthly events at the complex on Leek Road, Cheadle and Karen, an experienced lawyer, will present a half-day workshop – working with the title HR Essentials for Business Owners.

“The workshop is designed for business owners who do not have the luxury of employing a dedicated HR manager, said Karen. “We will look at topics such as what to include in employment contracts and policies to best protect the business and easy steps to minimise sickness absence, using case studies to illustrate good and poor practice. As an experienced employment lawyer I have worked with companies from start-ups to corporates and it is often the smaller companies who are searching for advice. My seminar will give practical guidance on taking on your first employee, contracts of employment, managing absence and performance and the actions that may be needed if things aren’t going well, from disciplinary stages to exit strategies. I’m extremely pleased to be asked to kick-start a series of business events at Daisy Bank House. It is a fabulous office space for growing companies and the training room is ideal for workshops such as mine.”

North Staffordshire-based Karen has years of experience in presenting seminars on employment law topics, both as an independent solicitor and for organisations such as the Finest professional services group and Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce. She advises a national client base from large corporates to owner-managed businesses on all aspects of employment law, working under the banner of new model law firm, Excello Law.

The paid for seminar programme is being hosted by Daisy Bank House but there is a discount available for Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce members. To book go online to https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/hr-essentials-for-business-owners-tickets-93272090333.
