Family Friendly Vegan Festival in Newcastle-under-Lyme

Vegan-market-image

A growing market is adding to its programme by hosting its first ever Vegan Festival.

Newcastle-under-Lyme Markets is staging the specialist outdoor event on The Stones on Sunday, 25 July from 10am to 3pm.

A variety of excellent vegan sellers are pitching up in Newcastle town centre to  promote a wide range of items made without animal products.

Visitors can buy hot food such as pizzas and crepes in addition to cakes, cheeses, chocolate, pies, liqueurs, cruelty-free beauty products, dog treats, crafts, art and jewellery.

Among the stallholders are market favourites Punx Puds, based in May Bank, who are bringing their festival-edition vegan puddings including syrup sponge, chocolate cherry and a variety of fruity crumbles. Other businesses include Dash Vegan Store, Green Flamingo Food, Soul Cheeze, The Tipsy Badger, Tropic Skincare and Vegan Poochy Treats.

There will be live music and singing, fitness sessions and talks on nutrition as well as face- painting and other fun activities for children. Parking on the Council’s town centre car parks is free on Sundays.

Cllr Stephen Sweeney, Cabinet member for finance, town centres and growth, said: “We’ve added some fantastic markets to our events programme to help make our historic market more vibrant and now we’re really excited to be hosting our first Vegan Festival. Veganism has really hit the mainstream in recent years so it’s great to run a dedicated market where visitors can buy some great vegan products, find out the latest information and meet with like-minded people. Everyone is welcome. It promises to be a great day out for the whole family.”

Local animal sanctuaries and rescue centres are attending the festival to raise money and promote their work.
