Expansion for global tech firm at premium Smithfield Works
An award-winning global tech business has expanded further at Smithfield Works by welcoming more members to its team.
Purple Digital Solutions – founded by James Butler and Adam Morray in 2024—has been a tenant at the premier Hanley co-working base for two years and has continued to grow year on year.
Within the first 12 months the business – which merges digital recruitment and digital agency services into one cohesive entity – branched out regionally, nationally and internationally, as well as picking up the Best MarTech Recruitment Company Award.
Since then, the firm has made more inroads and now trades across four continents.
Now, Joe Murfin has joined Purple Digital Solutions as Recruitment Consultant and will work across the North America region.

“We are delighted to welcome Joe to Purple Digital Solutions at a really exciting time for us,” said James.
“We have steadily grown the business in the last two years and it has felt right for some time to now introduce more staff members who will help us to continue pushing forward – locally, nationally and internationally.”
Purple Digital Solutions started life at Smithfield Works as a hot desk business soon after the firm was launched. Since then they have stepped up their membership at the Hanley location and now take advantage of a premium occupancy.
James added: “As soon as we launched the business we wanted a base where yes, we could be comfortable, but also a place which would be instrumental in our growth strategy.
“The premium membership has allowed us to have our own permanent desks, which has been a huge benefit along with all of the perks of a managed co-working space where we have also had the opportunity to connect with other tenants of all sizes.”

As well as flexible premium co-working facilities and meeting room hire, Smithfield Works also has a variety of office suites at the Hanley location.
Tenants include Ticketmaster Sport, Barclays, Stoke Creates and Centre Space Arts.
Recently the Hunter Douglas Visualization Experience team – who provide product photography to its parent company’s – Hunter Douglas Group – E-commerce websites – and include top household brands such as Blinds2Go and Hillarys, as well as in nine other countries worldwide – were welcomed as office tenants.
