Exercise Outdoors in Newcastle-under-Lyme

Brampton-park-newcastle-under-lyme

A new range of outdoor exercise classes and activities have been launched in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

The classes and activities – launched by Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council – are for all ages and abilities and will take place at Bathpool Park, Brampton Park, Chesterton Park, Clough Hall Park, Westlands tennis courts and the grassed area at Whitmore Village Hall.

The J2 Active Parks Programme – aimed at participants from toddlers to adults – offers something for everyone from low impact exercise, power walking and a game of tennis to high intensity circuits and a full body aerobic workout. Parents can enjoy buggy fit sessions and activities designed to develop their child’s co-ordination and social skills.

Daily sessions run from Monday to Saturday, between 10am and 3pm, with the next ones taking place on Wednesday, 14 October. Classes are limited to a maximum of 12 people, in line with current Government guidance, and must be pre-booked using a Lyme Card.

Admission costs £3.50. To view the timetable for October, or book tickets, please visit https://bit.ly/30HTmVv

Councillor Jill Waring, Cabinet member for leisure, culture and heritage, said: “Our new active parks programme is bigger and better than last year. It’s a brilliant way to get out of the house, improve your fitness levels, explore our lovely parks and meet new friends – especially for new parents – and is a great alternative to the gym. There are many benefits of being outdoors and exercising safely including improving the efficiency of your heart and lungs, strengthening your muscles and bones, achieving weight loss and preventing/improving health conditions as well as increased energy levels and improved mental well-being which is more important than ever.”
