Emmaus North Staffs launched House Clearance service

A North Staffordshire charity has launched its own dedicated house clearance service, which will support vulnerable people to move away from homelessness.

Emmaus North Staffs are providing two options to residents throughout Stoke-on-Trent and surrounding areas to remove reusable household items or provide a full declutter of homes and garage spaces.

The ‘Cherry Pick Clearance Service’ is a free option where good quality items will be removed from the home during a one-hour time frame.

A more extensive and chargeable full property clearance involves the removal of non-fixed items in the house, garage, shed, loft and cellar for us to reuse, resell, or recycle.

All reusable items will be used for resale either in the Emmaus North Staffs charity store, located in the Potteries Centre Shopping Centre, in Hanley or  their furniture and home emporium, situated nearby in Etruria.

John Webbe, Executive Lead at Emmaus North Staffs, said: “We are excited to launch our new service for 2024, which will see us helping local residents to remove the unwanted items they no longer need from their homes.

“Our services do not only help unwanted waste going to landfill, but at the same time proceeds from any resalable items in our store or emporium, all go to supporting those who are most vulnerable in our local communities.”

John added: “Our free 60-minute option is ideal for anyone looking to get rid of items which are of good quality and reusable. These could be anything from bric-a-brac, clothing, ornaments and books to furniture items.

“Whereas our full property clearance caters for a bigger removal of all non-fixed items in the house, garage, shed, loft and cellar for us to reuse, resell, or recycle. This is a chargeable service based on the size of the job and the volume of items we determine cannot be reused and therefore require disposal.”

Each year Emmaus North Staffs provides assistance to more than 800 local households who are in need of essential furniture and appliances.

The charity’s Beds for Kids campaign has also been providing bed bundles, food parcels and tailored support packages to local families since 2022.
