Claybody Theatre announce Christmas production
Claybody Theatre – who are located in the historical Spode Works in Stoke Town – have announced news of their very first full festive production.
A Christmas Carol will run for just over two weeks from 5 December, with 17 performances taking place at The Dipping House venue.
The show welcomes back Claybody favourite Jack Quarton (Song of the Sytch) who will be joining as composer and musical director. Andrew Price (Anna Of The Five Towns, New Vic Theatre) will take on the iconic role of Ebenezer Scrooge.
This original Charles Dickens favourite – adapted by Deborah McAndrew and directed by Conrad Nelson – promises to be a real Christmas treat which will include a nod to Stoke-on-Trent.

Deborah and Conrad are Co-Artistic Directors of Claybody Theatre, and A Christmas Carol is their first full length Christmas production.
A quote from Claybody Theatre – “It’s a story that remains powerful and relevant – the greatest ghost story ever told, and the perfect choice for the atmospheric Dipping House.
“As well as all the twists and turns of the original, we will be injecting some ‘Stokie’ magic into the story which we cannot wait to share with everyone.”
Deborah adds: “We’re almost ready to announce a full cast, but for now we’re delighted to have secured Andrew Price who, as I’m sure you can see from the poster, is going to be a brilliant Scrooge. Jack Quarton, who was so wonderful in Song of the Sytch, is also a talented musician and we’re thrilled that he’s returning to Claybody as Composer and Musical Director for this show, as well as playing Scrooge’s warmhearted nephew, Fred.”
Conrad said: “Over the coming weeks, there are some essential improvements to The Dipping House, which enable us to present a full run of performances in December. We’re looking forward to decorating this beautiful space for the season of good will, and welcoming audiences with a little more ‘comfort’ and a lot of ‘joy’.”
A Christmas Carol runs from Friday 5 December until Saturday 20 December, with performances taking place at various times. A full cast announcement will be made in October.
Tickets will go on general sale from Monday 1 September.
