SOT-Lord-Mayor-Faisal-Hussain

Stoke-on-Trent Lord Mayor, Councillor Faisal Hussain has announced a one-off charity football tournament in aid of his chosen charities, Brighter Futures and The Hubb Foundation.

The World Cup style football tournament will take place on 17 February 2023 at Fenton Manor Sports Complex, to raise funds for his charities.

The tournament is open to all and residents, local businesses, charities and sports clubs are all being encouraged to put forward teams of eight to enter the knockout tournament. Entry is £80 per team and individuals must be aged 18 or above to register. People can still sponsor the tournament if they are unable to take part.

Councillor Faisal Hussain, Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent said: “My charity football tournament will be a fantastic opportunity to raise funds for my chosen charities in a fun and entertaining way. I am encouraging people in Stoke-on-Trent to enter a team to help raise money for good local causes.”

Helena Evans, CEO of Brighter Futures said: “Brighter Futures are very pleased to support the Lord Mayor’s football tournament to raise both awareness and funds for the valuable work that our two charitable organisations do throughout the year to support individuals and communities within Stoke-on-Trent.

“We are very honoured to be selected as one of the Lord Mayor’s two charities for the year, and we appreciate the support that has been shown towards us. We look forward to contributing to this fun and entertaining football tournament in 2023”.

Adam Yates, Chief Operating Officer at the Hubb Foundation said: “The Hubb Foundation are both thankful and proud to be one of the Lord Mayor’s chosen charities this year which will enable us to continue to provide support to our city’s most vulnerable children and families.”

Teams can take part by calling the Lord Mayor’s office on 01782 236663 or emailing lo********@*******ov.uk
