A Christmas Carol at The Dipping House
A Christmas Carol is always a joy to watch. A Christmas Carol with a real ‘Stokie’ twist is not just a joy – but an unforgettable festive treat.
Claybody Theatre’s Christmas production is aptly staged at The Dipping House, at Spode where the mystical eeriness of this Charles Dickens classic is cleverly interlinked with references to Stoke’s heritage – Review Sonya Farrall
Members of Claybody’s community cast greet you as you enter the venue and help to set the scene for what is to come.
From the moment the cast appear there is nowhere else to look, no distractions just pure fixation on the drama unfolding ahead.

Andrew Price is faultless as Ebenezer Scrooge and carries the burdens of his character in true style as the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future take everyone on a journey to behold.
Scrooge relives experiences, shares emotional moments and goes deep into a world unknown before transforming into a new brother, uncle, boss and friend.

Perry Moore plays Scrooge’s faithful clerk – Bob Cratchit – never missing a days work, which causes tension at home as the family battle to save young Tiny Tim from the fateful hands of illness.
It must be noted that Price’s transition along the journey from constant misery to joy is remarkable to watch, while Moore flits effortlessly from one character to the next – including being absolutely hilarious as Scrooge’s former headteacher.
Purvi Parmar is brilliant as the Ghost of Christmas Present and brings some added Christmas joy in costume, and in voice, with nods made to Stoke-on-Trent’s heritage and clever references to the pottery industry, miners and steelworks.
Howard Chadwick is a delight to watch both as Scrooge’s late friend Marley and the generous Mr Fezziwig.
As well as a stellar cast, the set and costumes further compliment this story throughout.
Directed by Conrad Nelson and adapted by Deborah McAndrew, Claybody’s A Christmas Carol brings something special to the festive season this year. A magical story – without a doubt! A memorable experience – 100%!
But, even more so, this show allows you to immerse yourself inside a true classic and enjoy a journey through time…a journey where the past and the present are important for the future…and a journey which continues with you as you leave.
Some would say – It’s a Gift!
