#FosterWithYourCouncil2022 national campaign

Foster-with-your-council-campaign-2022

Football teams, carers, young people and families in Staffordshire have joined a national campaign to help promote fostering during the 2022 World Cup.

Their aim, to achieve just one goal, to recruit more foster carers for the county’s children in care.

Staffordshire County Council’s fostering service  have joined 26 other authorities in the campaign to create Local Councils United.  The  new virtual team will share short video clips each day during the tournament explaining why people should foster with their local council.

The social media campaign wants people to like and share the posts using hashtag #FosterWithYourCouncil2022

Mark Sutton, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People at Staffordshire County Council  said: “Sports and football are great ways of bringing people and communities together for a common goal and with all eyes on the World Cup, we’re taking the opportunity to raise awareness of the need for more foster carers.

“Fostering for your local council is a great thing to do and it makes a real difference to the lives of thousands of children every day.  We do have a shortage of foster carers in Staffordshire and are looking to recruit around 60 more families this year.

“We’ll be sharing the video clips every day throughout the tournament and you can follow all the action on Facebook at foster for staffs.  Please remember to tune in, tell your friends and share the social media posts.  And, if you want to find out more about fostering with us, then please contact the team.”

Northumberland County Council kicked off the campaign on 21 November, with Medway Council providing the final video on Day 27 of the tournament. Staffordshire will be featured on 8 December, Day 19 of the Campaign.

Staffordshire’s video was filmed at Rowley Park in Stafford featuring Andrea Johnson, Emma Howitt, James Woods and Terry McDermott from the fostering team and also Harry McDermott. People can watch the video at https://youtu.be/EIN3kkbTE9U.  All 26 videos are available to watch from 20 November at Local Councils United – Foster With Your Council
