Bank Holiday Fun in Newcastle-under-Lyme

A HOST of activities, entertainment and family fun will see visitors to Newcastle-under-Lyme Town Centre this August Bank Holiday.

Live music will be taking place at town centre bars throughout High Street and Ironmarket, while the many restaurants will be serving various dishes to whet the appetite.

As part of #YatesFest2022 ‘DeeJay’ will be at Yates, in Ironmarket on Friday, Smashed Bros burgers will host a pop up at Mellards bar on Friday 26 with The Traveling Taverna serving up dishes from Greece in an outdoor space on Saturday 27.

Bar Social hosts the final instalment in their August “Bottomless Deli” boards on Friday 26 and Saturday 27, which entitles diners to a mouth watering deli board and 90 minutes of bottomless drinks. Bar Social based comedy club ROFL Comedy has live shows on both Friday and Saturday
evening from 7pm.

At the recently opened Darwin and Bear – which specialises in Mexican food – it’s bottomless brunch on Friday and Saturday where patrons can utilise the consoles in the seating booths.

Sunday see’s music come to the town centre, with the ever popular Record Fair from Canonball
Records selling musical memorabilia including posters and art, CDs, vinyl and much.

Cocktail bar Bloom on the Ironmarket wraps up its Summer Sessions with an evening of 90’s and 00’s, featuring RnB future classics – courtesy of DJ’s Professor X and Jack Hardy.

Also, on the same day, DJ’s Dave and Dave will be at the elegant cafe/bar The Carlton in Merrial Street.

The Kiln is welcoming live DJ’s Friday through to Sunday and the Bank Holiday Monday sees the return of the ever-popular Castle Artisan Market.

Activities including free face painting, play and clay workshops with CraftKids and storyteller Alan Barrett will be sharing entertaining tales for children during the market day, and to add to the Bank Holiday Monday fun, Stormtroopers will be patrolling the town and there will be live music. Castle Artisan Market will be from 10am-4pm.

Whilst the town centre will be bustling, the nearby New Vic Theatre has a treat for theatre lovers. The hilarious Eric’s Monster Mash, with spooky characters and 60s tunes, opened on Monday 22 August and is running until September 3.
