Excellence across disciplines from pension advice, through staff training, to charity giving, has resulted in full Chartered Financial Planner status for Richard Jacobs Pensions and Trustee Services Ltd.

While Directors Richard Jacobs and Emily Small are both Chartered as individuals, it is much rarer for a whole company to achieve Chartered status. Fellow Director Kate Barnard said the Newcastle-under-Lyme-based firm had to prove themselves across a range of disciplines to gain recognition.

“It is a mark of excellence and integrity and is an acknowledgment of how the company operates as a whole,” said Kate.  “Richard Jacobs Pensions and Trustee Services Ltd is in the fortunate position of having a wealth of experience at the helm, with our two major advisers, Emily and Richard, known across the industry as trusted advisers. To gain Chartered status for the company, we had to submit a robust plan for the whole business, including a training plan to show how we continually develop staff, a business plan and even a demonstration of how we work in the community through our CSR and charity projects.

“The requirements for Chartered status puts emphasis on good management, stating we must demonstrate the experience and expertise required to ensure the business model is sustainable. Achieving this mark of excellence is, therefore, extremely beneficial, in showing current and future clients that we are a trusted source of expertise and plan to be available for many years to come.”

Kate, who is responsible for training, development and compliance, at the company, added: “We can’t now rest on our laurels as the Chartered Insurance Institute require us to renew our Chartered status every 12 months.”

Richard Jacobs Pensions and Trustee Services Ltd based on Brindley Court, at Lymedale Business Park. Richard founded the company in 1992 and has industry experience going back to 1973. The company has grown to have a seven-strong team, including his daughter Emily Small, who followed in her father’s footsteps to gain Chartered status and was made a Director of the business.

The Richard Jacobs team work with many companies in Staffordshire and Cheshire on auto-enrolment, with clients from micro-businesses to large companies. Richard said: “Typically, we will provide a service to a company, the directors and senior managers may then also ask us to support their plans.”
