Port Vale Foundation Trust to deliver NCS in 2020

Port-vale-foundation-trust

The Port Vale Foundation Trust is to help deliver a National programme throughout schools in North Staffordshire.

For the first time the Port Vale Foundation Trust will be in a position to deliver a full National Citizen Service (NCS) programme in 2020, and will be specifically working and supporting three schools.

Over the last 10 years more than 500,000 young people have benefitted from taking part in NCS nationally. As part of the 3 or 4 week experience during their summer time is spent trying exciting new activities, learning new skills and making new friends before returning to their communities to develop social action projects. These projects are a way of raising awareness of local causes, fundraising for charity or carry out activities to improve local facilities.

Port Vale Foundation Trust will be providing the government programme with Reed in Partnership in the West Midlands.

Tom Sherratt, Head of Community at Port Vale Foundation said “We are delighted to be working with the NCS Trust and EFL to deliver the brilliant NCS programme and we are excited to start engaging with over 50 students to give them some life lasting experiences that will not only develop a number of key skills but set them up for further careers. We will be starting our recruitment process in November ready for our first ever wave to start their NCS journey with us in June”.

Michael Lynas, Chief Executive of the NCS Trust, said: “I’m incredibly proud of everything that NCS has achieved in the last ten years. As it moves into the next phase of its life, I’m confident NCS can make a more significant difference for our young people and their communities than ever before.”

The new NCS network has been developed to deliver better value and experience for young people, parents and guardians and schools. Fnd out more about NCS here wearencs.com
