Food and Craft Markets in town centre

continental-market-in-newcastle-under-lyme-august-2019
FOOD and Craft markets are to grace Newcastle-under-Lyme Town Centre during November.

The Festive Feast food extravaganza will run from 10am to 6pm on Wednesday, 6 November until Saturday, 9 November and will be located next to the historic Lancaster Building and the Guildhall on High Street.

“Festive Feast” run by the Continental Street Market will be in the town centre – follows the highly-successful Continental Street Market event in August which attracted hundreds of visitors. Visitors will be able to enjoy the markets over four days and sample food and flavours from other places and cultures whilst artisan craftwork and other unusual pieces will be available to purchase.

Cllr. Stephen Sweeney, the Borough Council’s Cabinet member for finance and efficiency, said: “Bringing new life to the town’s historic street market is one of our key priorities and we are delighted to be bringing more street markets to our town centre for shoppers and residents to enjoy. GrowFest has proved a great success with town centre shoppers and we are proud to be working with GROW North Staffs for the sixth year running. The Festive Feast market will see a range of quality international themed traders housed in our range of Christmas themed stalls and promises an array of delicious hot and cold food to spice up your day as well as speciality take-away delicacies you can enjoy at home. We will also like to see some of our local independent traders at this market as the hosts, RR Events, are welcoming applications from local producers and operators. All our market events give residents and visitors another opportunity to sample and buy good quality food right here on our doorstep.”

In September GrowFest 2019, previously FoodFest, held a variety of family-fun events in the town centre with cookery demonstrations, a scout club tea tent, fire-eating, stilt walking and live music and dance. There was also local traditional craft demonstrations and sales, Morris Dancers, art activities and ‘meet and greet’ animals.

The event has been successfully hosted by GROW North Staffs since 2014 and was held on lower High Street between on Friday, 20 September and Saturday, 21 September.
