Smithfield Summer Thank you
Throughout the month of August around 2,800 local people were welcomed to the Smithfield estate where several events and activities took place – including Appetiteʼs Big Feast.
Thanks to the support of Smithfield Summer sponsors – Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce, Stoke BID, Martin & Co, Purple Digital and Barclays – the estate’s urban beach was reinstated, plus 100 free childrenʼs lunches and 150 free ice creams were provided.
Local musicians and live entertainment took place in the public realm of the estate for the Smithfield Summer launch and a Big Family Barbecue took place across the fifth weekend with GGʼs Nosh Box – where food was also served to families for free.

“To kickstart Smithfield Summer we also had entertainment from local musician Ash Wall (thanks to the support of the Regent Theatre) and artwork by Kidda Kinsey was installed at our beach – which was brilliant,” says Adele Simmons Community Manager at Smithfield.
“This was a huge community and business collaboration in which we thank everyone for their support.
“It was so good to see so many people come along to enjoy the fun.”
