Community Manager Adele celebrates successful first year at Smithfield

COMMUNITY manager – Adele Simmons – is celebrating after a successful one-year anniversary at Smithfield Works.

Adele – whose previous career background was in sales and marketing – was initially appointed to help to grow the purpose-built co-working element Smithfield Works – which is located at the £250m mixed-used scheme by Genr8 Developments, in Hanley.

But, in recent months Adele has also taken charge of the marketing of Smithfield Works, Clayworks and One & Two Smithfield, which are located at the Smithfield Estate.

The move comes following a successful 12 months which has included welcoming the likes of Ticketmaster Sport and Barclays as tenants, as well as supporting various creative organisations and start-ups who have made use of the extensive hot-desk facilities.

Ellen Lockhart, Senior Development Manager at Genr8 Smithfield, said: “Bringing all Smithfield businesses together in one marketing strategy creates significant opportunities for everyone, and synergies between stakeholders in an already buzzing part of Hanley. Genr8’s role in Hanley is a long-term one, and people like Adele are a fundamental part of the journey to keep Smithfield moving together in a positive direction.”

Adele, of Stoke-on-Trent, said: “The first 12 months at Smithfield Works has been a whirlwind and it has been great to get to know existing business tenants, as well as welcome new ones.

“I was absolutely thrilled when I was asked to take on more responsibility for the Smithfield Estate and it really is exciting times. We have a fantastic team here who all do an amazing job and are also passionate about the area – which is great.

“Smithfield Works alone was designed to support the growth of innovative young businesses across diverse sectors and with our hot-desk options and private desk suites, we are certainly doing that. It’s also been great to work with the likes of Ticketmaster Sport, Barclays and Morphy Richards and our creative friends right here in the heart of a City which is bursting in culture.”

Since the step up, several initiatives and partnerships have been introduced for tenants by Adele, including discounted rates at nearby gym – True Grit – as well as special deals with neighbouring bars and restaurants – including Fiesta, located in Piccadilly.

“It is very important to me and to the Smithfield development that we support our neighbours,” says Adele.

“The more we can help each other the better and it has been great to introduce our tenants to the partnerships we have already formed with True Grit and Fiesta.

“Hanley does have some really fantastic businesses and we are very much looking forward to introducing more partnerships in the very near future.

“To add we also host local networking group CONNECTS, which is supported by Stoke-on-Trent Business Improvement District, who regularly hold their meetings at Smithfield Works – which again is a great way to network and meet new local contacts.”

In other developments Genr8 Kajima Regeneration Limited (GKRL) have been announced as the granted preferred bidder by Stoke-on-Trent City Council for a multi-million-pound project.

GKRL are intending to work with partners to deliver a range of residential tenures across Etruscan Square and other development sites across the city – including PfP Igloo, who GKRL are working in joint venture with elsewhere in the UK.
