Newcastle-under-Lyme A-Level students celebrated

Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) has congratulated the students of the ‘Class of 2024’ on receiving their A Level, T Level, and BTEC Level 3 results 0n Thursday 15 August.

NSCG is celebrating a record-breaking year with outstanding results which will once again position Staffordshire’s leading college as the largest provider of students to higher education in the area, with hundreds of students securing their first choice places on highly competitive university courses.

NSCG was one of the first colleges in the area to adopt the new T Level qualifications, and having seen exceptional demand for these courses over recent years, NSCG now has one of the largest T Level cohorts in the country.

Craig Hodgson, Principal and Chief Executive of NSCG said: “It is an absolute pleasure to be able to celebrate the fantastic results of the Class of 2024. Our students consistently demonstrate passion, hard work and determination and because of this, they have secured the results that they richly deserve.

“We wholeheartedly share in the immense pride that the families and friends of our learners are feeling today, and wish our departing students the very best of luck as they move on to university, apprenticeships and their chosen careers.

“I would also like to extend my thanks and congratulations to the brilliant staff team here at NSCG, who have provided our students with the support and guidance needed to achieve such wonderful results.

“With September just around the corner, we are getting ready to welcome a new cohort of students to NSCG and hope these learners are looking forward to becoming part of our continued success story.”

Headline results:
– 1364 A Level entries with pass rate of 99.3%
– 61% of A Level entries achieved high grades A*-B, 26.3% of which were A*- A.
85% achieved A* – C grades.
– Over 20 A Level courses report 100% pass rate, including Animation, Art &
Design, Business Studies, Economics, English Language, English Literature, Film
Studies, Graphic Design, Further Maths, Geography, History, Media Studies,
Photography, Physics, Physical Education, Politics, Psychology and Sociology
– 100% pass rate on T Level programmes with 25.4% of T Level students
achieving distinction grades or above, and 88% achieving merit grades and
above
– 1117 Vocational (BTEC) entries with 99% pass rate
– 74% of Vocational (BTEC) entries achieved high grades D,M,M or above
(equivalent to A* – B at A Level)
– 47.9% of Vocational (BTEC) entries achieved distinction grades or above,
equivalent to A or above at A Level
– BTEC subjects with particularly strong grade profiles are as follows:
Fashion – 93.8% of students achieved grade DDD or above
Travel & Tourism – 78.6% of students achieved DDD or above
Applied Science – 73.7% of students achieved grade DDD or above
Photography – 70% of students achieved grade DDD or above
Graphic Design – 61.1% of students achieved grade DDD or above

Health & Social Care – 52.3% of students achieved grade DDD or above
*DDD is the equivalent to AAA at A Level

Top performing students at the College are expected to progress to a number of prestigious universities across the UK including – University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, Keele University, King’s College London, University of Birmingham, University of Bristol, University of Durham, Lancaster University, University of Leeds, University College London, University of Manchester, University of Nottingham, University of Warwick and University of York.

Annually around 97% of NSCG students progress to university, an apprenticeship or employment.
