College’s Riverbank Restaurant receives Gold

Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG), Stafford College’s Riverbank Restaurant has struck gold with a Gold Accreditation for its hospitality and catering provision.

This highly prestigious accreditation awarded by People 1st International – a global skills consultancy, research and training solutions specialist – also recognises the Riverbank Restaurant as a Centre of Excellence for food and beverage service.

NSCG-Award

These two accolades sit alongside the AA Highly Commended College Rosette that was
awarded to the restaurant last month.

Tom Harrison, Curriculum Leader for Hospitality and Catering at NSCG Stafford College said: “We’re incredibly honoured to be recognised by such a prestigious organisation like the AA and People 1st International. I’m proud of the students and staff as it’s all their hard work which has helped The Riverbank Restaurant to reach the fantastic standards we see today.  We benchmark our food and service to the highest industry standards and strive to give our customers great variety.

“The Riverbank Restaurant is the only college restaurant locally to have all three awards
which is real testament to the dedication of its students and staff in ensuring customers
receive an unrivalled dining experience.”

Andy Doyle, Partnerships Manager at People 1st International said: “It was fantastic to revisit Newcastle & Stafford College Group and to recognise for their continued success in preparing the next generation of hospitality professionals.  The combination of high-quality resources and team of experienced lecturers ensures that students gain the best skills and knowledge to excel in their future careers.

“The quality of the dishes and service at Riverbank Restaurant are impressive and an
experience that people should not miss. We look forward to working with the team at NSCG to support them as they continue to develop and grow their offer in the coming months.”

Situated overlooking Victoria Park, in a purpose designed contemporary style dining room, the restaurant is staffed entirely by Stafford College students. Food is freshly prepared daily, using top-quality fresh ingredients cooked and presented to fine dining standards and then delivered under exacting service guidelines and supervision.

With monthly menu changes and numerous ‘themed nights’ throughout the year, students are given the opportunity to display their technical skills and flair in varying ways and ensure no experience is ever the same.
