Photographers capture the heartbeat of Stoke-on-Trent

The winners are:

  • Under 18s category- Jake Wall
  • Wildcard – Sophie Dean
  • Town category- Paul Frost
  • Country category- Donna Heeks
  • Urban Category- Michelle Kent

The competition which launched in January was to celebrate the work of Stoke-on-Trent City Council Registrars department and aimed to showcase the beauty, diversity, and spirit of the city’s community through the lens of talented local photographers.

The winning entries were chosen for their creativity, technical skill, and emotive impact. From intimate moments alone, to the wonderful vibrant city colours and our beautiful parks, each photograph tells a unique story that resonates with all things connected to our hearts.

Councillor Lynn Watkins, cabinet member for Health and Wellbeing said: “I was delighted to be asked to be part of the judging panel and was thrilled to see so many familiar and favourite outdoor spaces from across the city. We received a sensational reaction from hundreds of residents who submitted images that reflect the very best of Stoke-on-Trent. It was very challenging to decide on the overall winners in both age groups as the entrants were of a very high standard, a huge thank you to all who took part. I can’t wait to see the photographs framed and on display.

“I would like to congratulate the five photographers whose talents have brought the spirit of our city to life. Their ability to capture the essence of the life and love in our wonderful city is evidence to the endless creativity and passion our city has to offer.”

The exhibition is currently open to the public to experience the beauty and vitality of the city through the lens of these talented artists. Join us in celebrating their incredible achievement. The exhibition is will be open at The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery until the end of May 2024.
